Differences Between TPE And Silicone Sex Dolls

Nowadays, buyers are spoilt for choice. Gone were the days when the early sex dolls are almost exclusively made of TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) rubber with a rather basic set of aesthetics that pales in comparison to what silicone dolls can achieve. This is due to the fact that the silicone material allows for a large variety of special effects and doll touch-ups to be done. In this article, let’s find out what are the main benefits of getting a silicone doll vs a TPE doll. Let’s roll!

Let’s start with the simpler material: TPE. By definition, TPE is a blend of plastic rubber, with each manufacturer specialising in their own proprietary TPE blends to achieve certain aesthetical effects, and suppress material odour, among other factors. A distinctive trait of TPE refers to the fact that the material itself has the ability to be reprocessed by heat. What this effectively means is that the TPE material can be recycled. Therefore, this also means that the quality of TPE may vary greatly between manufacturers as quite literally, you get what you pay for. As TPE is softer to the touch when compared to silicone, it is quite popular with customers - besides the “jiggle” factor, your doll’s bums and limbs feel more flesh-like, making her a perfect snuggle companion in bed especially when it retains warmth either from the electric blanket or from yours truly. Finally, just like silicone, TPE is also hypoallergenic.

Silicone, also known as silicone rubber, is a mixture of silicon polymer with carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Due to the material nature of silicone, it allows for a finer set of details to be crafted in your doll. If we have to name a few prominent areas, then these will be the vagina, penis, anus, face, fingers and textured skin treatment. As with TPE, silicone is hypoallergenic. However, do note that by comparison, silicone is a superior material when compared to TPE as the latter is more porous, hence, silicone requires a lower level of maintenance effort. Silicone is also more resistant to scratches and damage as it is tougher. If you prefer your doll to be installed with an internal heating system, then a silicone doll is the way to go as it has a very high melting point (read: 1414°C or 2577.2 °F!) - their TPE cousins can’t do this trick.

Our advice would be to first get a good understanding of the material basics before pulling the trigger (have patience!) on a big-ticket item such as a love doll. Do you want to risk your health by getting a really cheap (and often too-good-to-be-true) doll just to save some dollars? On the same note, we are not advocates of silicone dolls per se when we compare the material differences, but we thought it will be good to highlight certain industry practices from unscrupulous manufacturers that could mar your doll experience, especially for your very first purchase.

So, there you go, silicone or TPE, the choice is ultimately up to your budget, individual preferences and trade-offs - why not get a fusion love doll to experience the best of both worlds?:)
